September 2015

September 2015 was full of lots of fun activities. One evening we went to Back To School Night at one of the schools Ross works at. They invited the Green Man Group from UVU to come and play. The Green Man Group is an all percussion band that dresses all in green to perform. They are really fun to watch, but really loud! So our kids kept their ears covered the whole time. Afterward everyone got to go out to the playground to play and eat hot dogs. The kids loved it!

Here's a couple of cute pictures I snapped of Paige laying on the grass while the kids ate hot dogs and ran all around. 

My friend, Lesley, sent these fun Magnatiles to the kids for their late birthday presents. They had so much building and stacking with them. Such a great gift. 

BYU has a $1 movie theater that we decided to take the kids to one night because they were playing Leah's favorite movie, Inside Out. But we didn't tell her what was playing. It drove her nuts to not know what movie we were watching, but the look on her face when she figured it out was priceless.

Our little baby girl just keeps growing and is somehow getting more cute each day. Here's some pictures I snapped after church one Sunday.

In August we had a little birthday celebration for Ross's dad where his mom gave some of the family members little gifts of things that their dad really liked. One of his favorite things to do was put together puzzles. Since me and the kids love puzzles too, she gave us the puzzle to put together. So here's a picture a Leah and I after we finally finished it.

With September comes the end of baseball season. Here we are at our last Orem Owlz game of the season. We always enjoy going to the baseball games. So sad when summer comes to an end.

I love it when my kids are getting along and playing well together. It usually means they are making some type of mess, but it makes for great memories. These three kiddos crack me up and melt my heart sometimes.

Corbin was playing with Ross's phone one day and completely passed out watching something on it. It was so funny to find him just laying there. When I moved the phone away from his face, there was a big crease in his forehead from where the phone was pressed into it. He must have been very tired!

On September 15th my grandpa Putnam celebrated his 97th birthday. He had suffered a stroke back in June and was still trying to recover from it. When he was in the hospital they discovered that one of his heart valves was leaking. They did what they could to fix it, but his heart was also beating out of rhythm which was making half of his heart too full, so he was feeling pretty miserable and actually didn't want to have a party. However, despite all that and the cool, wet weather my aunt Mary Beth wanted to host a party in her back yard where we could all celebrate this wonderful man's birthday.

When he couldn't handle being there any longer they took him back home. I helped him get his oxygen to the car. I had never seen him look so tired and miserable in my whole life. We thought for sure that the end was coming soon for him. But later in September they were able to shock his heart back into rhythm. Shocking a 97 year old heart seemed like a bad idea at the time, and we weren't sure he was going to survive the procedure, but he was determined to get it done so he could feel better. His thinking was that if he couldn't find a way to feel better, he'd rather go ahead and die. Miraculously he survived the procedure and went on to recover and feel better than he had in a long time. This stubborn old man is a fighter!

In September we also decided to have my cousin, Britta, take our family pictures again. We decided to take them near Bridal Veil Falls. It was a bit chilly by the time we were done, but I think they turned out great. I'll have to post some later. Afterwards, we took the kids out for a pizza dinner. Here a few pictures we took at the restaurant.

September 19th is "Talk Like A Pirate Day." My neighbor, Bonnie, really gets into it and likes to throw a party to celebrate. The kids love dressing up and participating in little pirate activities. Mostly they just enjoy a chance to get together and play outside. 

On September 24th I discovered that our little one had cut her first tooth! She hadn't really shown any signs of teething, so I was a little surprised. And upon closer inspection I could see that her gums were pretty swollen and that her second tooth wasn't too far behind. 

One of our great neighbors, Corey Virgin, decided to move, so another one of our neighbors threw him a fun, surprise going away party. The kids had a great time playing with some of their neighbor friends. Leah especially enjoyed playing with Allie that night. So I got a couple pictures of them before we left.

I was trying to get a picture of Corbin just chillin' on the couch one day, and Leah insisted that she get in on the camera action. Funny girl!

With the end of September comes Ross's birthday. We invited his mom over one night for a birthday dinner celebration. Instead of a birthday cake, Ross opted for birthday pie.

Our kids couldn't handle watching Ross blow out the candles and got get in on the action. So we had to relight the candles several times so they could take turns blowing them out.

In September, Leah started taking piano lessons from my friend's son, Tyler. He's only 10, but is really good with the piano and does a great job teaching Leah. Leah has picked it up pretty easily and has potential for being a great piano player. I hope she sticks with it and is able to develop her talent.

Ross and I (and Paige) were able to go out to dinner to celebrate his birthday while his sister, Norma, offered to watch our other kids. If you know Ross, it is probably no surprise that we went to a local Mexican restaurant for some yummy food.

My kids are funny and full of silly antics. Here they are wearing my shoes and dancing along with the TV in our messy living room. 

I always think it is funny when my kids fall asleep in interesting places. I guess this shopping trip was just too much for Corbin to handle. 

Even with the warm weather coming to and end, we were still able to get out occasionally and enjoy the fall weather. Here we are on a nice fall day enjoying all the fall leaves near our house. 

At times like this, I always enjoy taking way too many pictures. But with such cute subjects, it is hard to resist.

On September 30th, our baby girl turned 6 months old!

Paige is a happy little girl and we love having her as part of our family!
